Well, here is an idea for you. Why not create the municipality of Camposol. There are enough people that live here to do that. Then you would have independence from Mazarron and receive and spend iBI, have your own police force, decide how the money is spent, decide on what needs building and wha...

...t services to have along with other benefits and responsibilities of being your own municipality.  El Pareton has a smaller population than Camposol and is a municipality.

I was not being negative about the post, just trying to be realistic as to what can be achieved. It is disingenuous to suggest that a spend of €6k a month would give 24/7 police patrols. It wouldn't.

Good luck

I will do what others do, leave it to some one else, no longer waste my time.

I do agree, I have a nice apartment in Sucina ( approximately 80 apartments ) unfortunately there are 3 apartments above me are squatting, and are very abusive and have have no consideration for others, and bypassing electric and water. Why does Spain allow this this to happen

I'm afraid the area is reflective of the people who live there. Turnover of properties and new, less responsible residents is a factor. Crime is increasing in parallel with the demographic changes. The couldn't care less brigade will wake up when they realize that their properties are being devalued, the roads are unsafe to walk at night, and businesses will abandon the area, leaving what??. Time to get off the fence folks!

There was one burglary on D and one on B as well as an attempt on C last night. They were publicised on the security groups, as are others when they occur. There are over 4000 houses on Camposol, so some level of criminality should be expected.

is there any security group? I would like to join too. The bigger the better.

We should not forget that Mazarrón is in the Spanish top 10 of poorest regions. The Camposol residents are rich expats in the eyes of the burglars who are active in this region (and in the eyes of the locals). Also, the average age of Camposol residents is pretty high which makes them an easy and "safe" target. The burglars have little to nothing to fear.

The Mazarrón police is seriously understaffed looking at the area they have to cover and that will not change anytime soon. The number of burglaries in Camposol is not very high looking at the number of properties and people are very vocal about every incident. Also, alot of people have very set patterns when it comes to  grocery shopping, eating out and visiting bars (Sunday roasts, Fish & Chips Fridays, open mic night on the same night every week). Everything that goes on is advertised on social media so it's not hard to find out when many people won't be at home. Scouting parking areas around the commercial centers is not difficult to do either. During the winter months a large amount of properties is empty which gives burglars more opportunity to go unnoticed. Also as long as there is poor street lighting on large parts of Camposol this problem will remain. It surprises me how many permanent residents have little to no lights on around their houses during the dark hours of the day, especially in areas where there is no street lighting. Only because it will cost a couple of euro every months in electricity?

I actually believe the opposite when it comes to a changing demographic and the effect on burglaries. Since Brexit less and less Brits are moving to Camposol. Because of age, health and financial issues more and more elderly Brits are moving back to the UK. Those houses are being bought by people coming from different European countries. This, over time, will steer Camposol in a different direction. At this moment I see a lot of people "set in their ways" not willing to invest in Camposol because of its past, broken promisses by the council, old age, can't be bothered anymore, etc. I also hear alot of people say they cannot invest more because they are on a set income/pension. The bars and restaurants tell a different story.

What we need is a home owners association for every sector and at least €50,- a month in fees to upgrade Camposol by ourselves. Improve our street lighting and security, pay businesses to keep Camposol clean and maintain all the public facilities to a higher standard. We cannot afford to do nothing and expect the Mazarrón council to solve our problems.

Agree, Mazarron is not much better. Public funding seems to be the issue all over. People must help themselves. On demographics the point I was making was that the community spirit was diluted by changing of personnel, maybe with less civic spirit.

Fully agree, but you will never, never get residents to pay Euros 50 a month, they moaned about Euros 5 a month, lose to many drinks, booze more important.

Myself happy to pay for results.
