I  agree, it is purely location in the most part. For us D us what we wanted, bigger property in our price range, large underbuild, comparative peace and quite and an easy drive to facilities, beaches etc. Unless happy to only stay on Camposol and/or use public transport then we would consid...

...er a car  a must, whichever part you live on. When that flexibility of free movement becomes an issue we will review our situation , until then D suits us well

Our choice for our priorities, some will agree, some wont.

Good on you, just check all is legally built, with full permission, especially any underbuild that has been built in, and all are on the deeds, it may protect you later if and when the council come checking, they sure will one day soon, it will make them lots of money in fines for building work not legal, and could result in orders to remove the work carried out.

The council know what has been going on, they are not stupid, and will come checking Camposol.

All I said was the reality for those who live on D and go to B for a meal and a beer. Totally nieve if you think otherwise

Did not say it was right, obviously we all know it is illegal but the roads are a lot clearer over here compared to London,  which is where I am from and from what I have seen it is pretty much the norm

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

You would be surprised how many get caught out, ( famous case, builder shows owners he has town hall paperwork to carry out the building work ) when all completed it is given to solicitor to get placed on the deeds, oh dear, paper work shows work permission for a extension to a shop in Mazarron.

STUPID???????

We used Mercers on Camposol as our estate agents who are predominantly all English and on of the things that helped us make that decision was the fact that they had built up a structure of lawyers and solicitors whi all spoke English and were in effect working with them

We bought the house, had all the paperwork set up and signed and moved all utility Bill's with no issues or delays at all

For us, especially as we were not residents, this was a totally seamless and pain free process and remains so to this day and is one we would recommend

I think it depends on what you want from Spain. Our friends have a detached house on Camposol and adore it. We nearly bought there too but then we realised we wanted to be more in the rural Spain which would encourage me to speak Spanish so we bought in an area I had never heard of previously! We...

Absolutely Trish, me and the wife did the same, we looked at Camposol but we're put off by the shear size on the urbanisation. We also wanted to integrate with the Spanish people. We found a small by comparison Urb of 100 spacious plots (2200 M2) about 3kl from a small village inland where all but a few speak 'un poco' English. transportation is not bad a couple of buses running into Murcia every day. We can get to the coast in 40 mins and airport in 30 mins, we have a healthy mixture of Brits, French, Netherlands, Irish, Welsh, Scots and of course Spanish as neighbours.

Contrary to popular belief, Camposol is not just a place for retired UK pensioners to come and die. The age group is much lower than I expected and is very varied and there is a plethora of nationalities who live there including Spanish who actually work in the port.

Of course it is not for everyone especially if the dream is to integrate into a Spanish community, however, my experience is that is far from everyone's choice which is why Camposol was created and has grown to it's current size, which is testament to what I would suggest the majority prefer.

We are still close to the coast, have our own amenities where people from other urbanisations visit for their shopping, petrol and then a meal and a drink. A great community with a good spirit and like minded people who want to look after their community.

We did alot of research during the last 6 months because we were planning our move to Spain. We looked at different arreas, (coastal) towns and urbanisations. We read all the good and bad stories about Camposol as well. In the end all the so called horror stories about Camposol are mostly just that. Yes there are issues, issues like there are on almost all urbansations in Spain. Some say building quality on Camposol is poor. Building quality on Camposol in general is not any better or worse than at other places. It's right on par with the average Spanish building quality. We have toured the area alot and were pleasantly surprised with the look and feel of most of Camposol. There was only one urbanisation in the area that looked better than Camposol and that's the Mazarron Country Club. BUT all owners pay a monthly home owners association fee and there are practically no amenities there. For the largest part of the year MCC seems to be a ghost town compared to Camposol.

The Mazarron area is one of the poorest areas of Spain and it's not as posh as places like Malaga, Marbella or Ibiza. But you get good value for money at Camposol, a friendly and helpful community, great bars & restaurants and all the other amenities one might need. And you're just 15 minutes away from the beaches. After all our research we were happy to buy at Camposol and we're confident we'll love living there.

Good for you.

Camposol is a great place, but needs members of the community to start looking after it, no more just dumping rubbish all over the Campo, clean up out side their properties, no dogs mess just left any where, we are all responsible for Camposol, and forget the idea that some one else will do it, why bother, its a community that belongs to all, so all need to care for it.

Enjoy your new place, get involved, help others, and feel proud of what you do.

We're very precise about keeping the condition of our property perfect. We're not the kind of people to dump rubbish and we never drop stuff on or next to the street. I do intend to get involved in some form in keeping Camposol clean and safe as soon as we've moved permanently. Oh and we don't let our dog do his business everywhere.

So GB give you a pension, do we not pay for our pension throughout our working life?

Sorry but no one gave me my pension. I worked for 47 years paying into the system. It is a right not a 'benefit' as the government have suddenly started calling it.
