Don't believe everything you hear....there are some beautiful properties here . The problems are in a small area and this a huge place . If you deal with a reputable agent you won't even be shown property without the correct paperwork . Come and see for yourself....and come with an open mind .

When you say the problems are in a small area, where is that area ?, and is it true that the are floods, and the government are re taking properties from owners ?

Hi

I met a man when flying into Alicante who had a place over there.  He said the place was improving and that a hotel near the golf course was being renovated.  I visited 10 years ago with Parador and the rep refused to take us there due to some properties being built on national park land , and also lack of amenities.  This man liked it there and said slowly the area would improve.  My point  is go and have a look , then have a look at a more established area and see if you have the patience to wait.  Most people who move to Spain are over 55 so how much time have you left to wait?

I do not live on campasol but am very pleased with where I live though would not tell others to live here because it may be unsuitable for them we spent 2 years in rental driving around Murcia because we liked the area then found what was suitable for us and purchased a house 4 years before the crash we have lost at least 50% but luckilly are not looking to sell strange with hindsite should have rented longer but should you come out here spain anywhere, rent for at  least a year then when you have found the right place then if you wish buy but you can continue to rent if suitable could save thousands and even with long life you could still be on the winning side renting

Just got back from U.K. after 2 weeks makes you look fwd to returning home to spain

Hi all

I've been in Spain 10yrs in San Pedro d P . Not much has changed , the point I was making , and certainly not trying to offend anyone , is, don't expect to see an area to grow overnight.  Everyone has lost money on their property, don't by for investment you will probably lose money.  Our area is just started to expand house wise the bars shops have about a 12 month life span before they go out of business and someone else comes along and tries their luck.

MikenMax was quite right. We should not expect buying a house in Spain as an investment. It doesn't work the same way as in the UK. On that same principal, we came and checked out a few regions this year and strangely enough we found n bought our holiday home on Camposol despite all the negative news and Youtube videos. We had spent months n months doing our research and yes we did see a few calles with ground shiftng issue when we were driving around on Camposol. We feel bad for these owners, however, it didn't put us off when we saw a villa and we knew it was the one. The buying process was unbelievably straight forward and I am a skeptical type of guy who would always have plan B and C. We were told that our house was about 60% cheaper than 8 years ago and it was brand new as a bank repossession. We felt sorry for our neighours who had bought before the crash. But then, if one is financially viable, it should n't matter as we should factor everything in when buying. We don't expect our villa will inlfate in value as we are using it as a holiday home and we expect it to depreciate like a car.

So, if you like your car, use it and enjoy it while we can. Just enjoy life and enjoy the sun and people and food in Spain. We are very pleased with our little holiday pad on Camposol. Our neighours are absolutely fantastic and helpful. They are millions times better than our homes in England. I mean that.

I've bought 3 houses in Spain and only 1 of them  hasn't made me money so it's not all doom and gloom right place at the right time I suppose.

I would have thought prior to 2008 ..anyone could have made a profit out of a property in Spain ..back then all you needed to obtain a mortgage was a couple of wage slips and the equivalent of a dog license for ID...just try getting a Spanish mortgage now or try buying a property in cash ...if you cannot prove that you have earned the cash money and paid tax on it you are likely to have your bank account frozen ...until you come up with the proof of how you got the cash money...believe me I had to show a paper trail regarding the accumulated money...before I was permitted to buy my new Villa ...money laundering is a thing of the past ..its not like the old days when you could pay for your purchase half in cash so called black money and the other half through the bank and only pay purchase Tax on the Bank amount ..now you pay tax on what the government notary tells you what they think you should have paid for it.
