Will60 and Mags44 are spot on......Brexit was not caused by the Spanish and has a lot to answer for and there really is no point bemoaning what was......if you want to live in the sunshine and enjoy all of what living in Spain offers then it’s going to be a case of head down and get one with tackling the Spanish bureaucracy.....

Fully agree, UK shot us in the head, and Span will shoot us in our bank accounts, tax, and health care..
I now think it is time to carefully look at our positions here, never thought I would say this, but may be get prepared for what will not be a stable future if there is no agreement.
Spain will want what it can get out of us, and with no UK protection, we will just have to pay up, or go.
Sad, but I do not think any one expected such a change, you would hope that Spain would protect a massive income the expats bring in, but I now think they will not be bothered about us.
May be drastic words, but it seems to be heading that way.
Spain didn't vote us out of the EU. It was the UK that did it to ourselves. What is really scary is how many Brits seem to be completely unaware that things have changed. There was someone on here who was very vitriolic, when I expressed concern. Have not heard from him in sometime. How many times have we seen someone asking about jobs and how much they need to live on over here? When you start talking about shengan rules, they act as if you are telling lies. Unbelievable.

Hi yes we voted ourselves out, or most of us did.
The EU will lose millions from the UK funds, they will want to make this up in some way.
It think it has been announced that Spain is second to Argentina in its economy now, thats not good news when you consider how up the chain they were.
I may be wrong, and I hope so, but I think the Spanish dream is coming to a quick end for many, Brexit and the virus has delt it a double blow, and all will suffer.
New rules will stop people coming here, they simply will not be able to meet the new rules, very sad, but Boris has announced, he will not get involved for ex pats, or those wanting to retire here, they are no longer any thing to do with the UK.

The rules aren't new! Non-EU citizens have always had to jump through more hoops than citizens from EU countries and the British electorate decided that they wanted to become non-EU citizens. UK citizens could have kept their previous rights and will now be the ones to suffer, because their government has lied to them for the past 4 years and will keep doing so right up until the end of December. Then they will throw up their hands in horror, pretending that the didn't think that it would be as bad as it's going to get. There isn't and never will be, anything positive about Brexit for normal British citizens!

Sadly I agree with you Mags. The added difficulties for British Ex-Pats in the EU are purely a side issue and another consequence of Brfitish stupidity. How the UK can justify leaving the most prosperous trading bloc in the world and throwing themselves on the mercy of a hostile global market is beyond the ken of intelligent human beings!

Fully agree, but worse is yet to come, deals behind closed doors, always put down the normal people who just want a good life, and be left alone.
The dream is coming to a end.

Ahh the British were sold a devil in disguise......told they could control movement into Britain whilst everything else for them the British, the ex-pat, would remain the same......big headed thinking.
But maybe, just maybe as time goes by new arrangements will be made and life in the sun won’t be as bad as we fear right now...... 🤞

I now have my doubts, I think it will be self preservation, and all EU countries will have no hesitation in screwing the Brits in their countries, they now know the Brits have no protection, and have been abandoned, so down to the individual now to decide what is best.
