You can see a doctor on Camposol A at the Medical Centre.

Yes but that's for non residents, there you'll have to pay. If you're a resident you go the medical center on the opposite street and it's free. This does NOT mean that as a resident you can't go to the doctor next to the pharmacy

This is correct.

One of the drugs is called riveroxobon.

Not sure what the other one is called. What I do know is that they work on the platelets of the blood differently than warfarin.

Also work noting is with warfarin, if you’re INR is high and you need to lower it in an emergency you can get a vitamin K injection to lower it so you’re blood will obviously clot quicker.

Not so sure what would happen with these other drugs as there is no way of measuring INR as of yet

Like you say, you’d need to speak to your coagulation team

Hi,

I came in March, 2 days before lockdown along with 3mnths of Rivaroxaban from Uk. As I ran out but couldnt get a ferry booking, had to visit pharmacy and a 28day supply was 84€!!. As I,m staying upto 6mnths thats a lot to pay so I,ve gone back onto warfarin ( pennies in comparison) at same dose as I used to be on as I was relatively stable. I am not recommending anyone else do this, I know I,m playing russian roulette, but I had 3 more for myself and 2 medications for hubby to pay for too. I did ask pharmacy if I was a resident would I get this free (pensioner) but she said possibly not as certain medications are not available on prescription. I didnt know they were so expensive when my Uk Dr changed me over to save testing visits as we will keep visiting for 90days, twice a year.

Apparrantly there is no antidote for this new anticoagulant, it works by stopping blood from clotting not like warfarin by thinning the blood. Need to keep watching for extreme bleeding symptoms.

Regards

Pauline.
