Hi Sorry to hear that with your husband. i'm sure he will be ok. Not saying it would Work but leave a light on over night so it look's like someone is up might help. It'll take time for him to bounce back I'm sure. We used to have rescue dogs in our last houses but said after we lost our last dog to cancer and saw her deteriate we wouldn't want to go through all that again. We are both dog lovers though maybe me more so but you never know in the future what happens. We have had the grill fitted back on the window now more securely and ordering new grills that fit directly into the wall inside the decorative ones so will be doubly grilled on some windows. You can only go so far and make the house as secure as possible. Do you live full time on camposol yourself?

I don't believe that there will be any real change until and unless the Spanish attitude to CCTV changes. The wooly civil liberties lot are more concerned about thr rights of burglars and street robbers - along with the rights of property invaders ("squatters" always sounds too feeble to me!)rather ...

...than the rights of decent law-abiding citizens to live without fear of assault or loss of their property.

Sad but true I fear

Sorry to hear of your trouble.  PeterC is right; there will be no change in crime rates in Camposol until the Police get their fingers out and devote more time here.  My area on A has a bunch of south american villains moved in during and inbetween lock downs this year. The Police are never away from their houses, but not one of them has been taken yet!  The good thing is they haven't dared to break-in the nearby properties because they would be immediate prime suspects. The old adage don't mess in your own nest springs to mind!

As you've probably read we are relatively new to camposol. The only time we have seen police on camposol is on roundabouts during the day stopping cars and checking the occupants. The police need to be cruising round camposol more often and maybe even catch all the drink drivers also!!! They did actually turn up at the house yesterday to see how they got into our garden. That's after we did the police report also. Insurance company told me they are dealing with a few claims for burglery at the moment. So sad for all of us to go through this. Maybe your people on A are not burgleing your area. We need to find out who they are though. It's OK for everyone to speculate but they have to be caught and brought to justice

Sorry to hear your loss, I have cctv cameras installed inside and out, even get alerts if a mossy mange’s to get in, also have a very loud and deafening alarm too, so might be worth doing the same, I get emails alerts even when I rains. So I can see in an instance if I need to alert police or good neighbours opposite.

You only notice things like this after the event. We have different grills in our D which are into the wall as this area must have been open years ago until it was glazed in. We didn't choose to have these type of grills they were like this when we bought the property. It's now only after the bre...

...akin that we will get something else sorted out. Suppose when the man comes from the insurance comes tomorrowto secure things he will try and just put more rawl plugs in. But hubby will be there to tell him we want a better system. At least we do have grills on doors and windows as I've started to take notice now that a lot of properties don't have them at all. So surely they must be ripe for a breakin?

If you want a really good grill installed I had a Spanish guy did a first class job and steel bars snd strong glue locked them in place, then sealed bolt hex and ground it down so cannot be unscrewed from wall, if interested pm for for his number and a good price too,

Camposol is good value for money in that you get a lot for your budget. The houses are not built as well as the ones we lived in previously but a lot of people I've found are friendly enough here. I've been round to see people in adjoining streets today to check on their grill work etc. It's nice to be invited in and ask do you want a coffee with them. Camposol isn't for everyone. On sector D you definately need a car to get to bars and restaurants etc. But I don't mind driving and not drinking and know I can have a drink if I like when we get home. I don't know when these burgleries will stop we have to catch the people doing it first. Hope you make it to Spain soon and enjoy your retirement. We have all worked hard to earn it.

Lynn.

The reason you were broken into is because your rejias are only mounted with rawlplugs, the mounting points should have a T bar welded across the ends & be cemented into the wall.

I'm afraid that won't stop them if they're determined. A tug with 4 x 4 soon has them out, or I've even seen them chipped out with chisels etc, particularly when neighbouring properties are left empty for some time. Alarms and cameras will deter opportunist thieves, but there are many who know all about your property and level of occupancy. If you're in the UK and your alarm sends you a message, what do you do? You need someone local to act in your absence. My fear, particularly during the pandemic was squatters which can be a real problem in Spain.
