Trouble is with these cable companies you can't turn the service on & off if your home is just for holiday use.

There is no point in paying 30 euro a month if you are only at the place 2 or 3 months of the year in total.

Compusurf might be a bit slow, although they have increased their speed to about 10 meg but at least you can pay for a week or two at a time.

We are here full time hence switching to telecable. Compusurf hot spot works for holiday homeowners. If you have iptv its no good on compusurf.

I use IPTV on Compusurf Hotspot.

Works well.

Thing is my needs are not very heavy.

If you had 2 or 3 laptops / ipads / kids gaming etc etc Compusurf is not good

at all.

All depends on your needs really.

Pity the cable outfits don't have a switch on switch off package.

Thanks everyone for the responses to my thread.

We have just signed up to Telitec as we are about to move permanently to Isla Plana. Installation is free and it is 40Euros a month for 100MB fibre. I need the speed as I am going to be working remotely for my current UK employer, plus I run a web hosting company and am also a web designer. The price compares reasonably with the price we pay in the UK currently but with advertised 50% faster download speed.

Remains to be seen how it performs, but will post an update after we arrive in Spain and have had a chance to test it out.

Hi - I hope you don't mind me asking but how did this work out for you - we are looking at a place in the Mojan Hills but I need a good internet connection. Did they run a new fibre cable to your property us use the phone line?

Yes this works a treat - we had a new fibre cable to the property, we do not have a phone line, but they do offer a VOIP phone service as well but we just use our mobiles. They also do mobiles but we haven't used those.

I work from home so a fast internet connection is essential for me and it has been great. Yes you do get the occasional drop offs and the router they supply is not the best but wifi coverage throughout the house is good. I mainly use a wired connection for my work computer so the connection is not affected by the location.

If you do decide to go with them let me know and I can refer you.

Best of luck on whatever you choose.

Thank you - we are speculatively looking at an apartment up in the Mojan Hills area and I need to be able to work from home when we are there. It looks like fibre is a possibility which is great news as that is a deal killer! What speed do you get please?

We are on 100Mb - generally we get 60-70Mb download and the same upload via my ethernet connection on HomePlug which is about double what we used to get back in the UK. I am a graphic designer and have regular video meetings on Teams plus we stream TV and have mobiles with no issues. Think you can upgrade to 300Mb but as the speed is so good I haven't had to look into that.

Thank you, that sounds promising! May I ask you how you get on in Isla Plana - we are looking to speculatively buy a place here for long weekend and holidays (we have a 14 year old) and have never been - yep, I know, mad!!

It just looks like such a great place and very peaceful. I am trying to build a picture of what the place is like. I guess it must be super quiet at the moment? Would you say that most of the houses and apartment are holiday makers or is there a good mix with permanent residents? Are there many Brits or is it a good mix with Spanish?

Any information would be appreciated :-)

Isla Plana is great - there are a mixture of residents and holiday homes.

We have English, French and Spanish neighbours - it is generally very quiet - with probably about 20% permanent residents where we are.

I can't say about other areas but when we walk into Mojon Hills it does seem there are very few residents up there.

We only moved here at the end of September last year so haven't had a chance to experience it out of lockdown but all the establishments are open year round as there are a lot of residents in the village.

If you get a chance to rent on Mojon Hills I think I would probably do that to get a feel for the place.

I have attached photo from our house looking up towards Mojon
