I was thinking the same myself. If you read my post, I do not advise not to rent, renting is a good option, if you are not sure, obviously! Didnt realise you were in the game, I am just a "normal" person, answering a question, giving my viewpoint, simples. You are correct that a lot of people have lost life savings but there are lots of people who love it. By the way Roldan is a Spanish town and does not close in the winter as does not depend on tourism. La Torre is quiet but most people like it like that. Makes me not want to make simple comments and try to help people when they ask. End now, don't need to explain any more.

It is a shame that you can not accept constructive views surely even you with your views would advise someone to rent before they bought?
I can not believe that anyone would advise the alternative which is to buy blind then find out wether you like it later, on TV place in the sun even they said that in the winter la Torre is very quiet and that local towns like Roldan are mostly closed due to lack of trade. ...

I will continue to advise anyone thinking of buying a property in spain ANYWHERE
To rent first and make sure you like the life and the position before investing their hard earned savings,
You were lucky you bought of plan, we have represented 100s of purchasers in Corvera, Roda, la Terraces and many more who purchased off plan, then saw the company they purchased off go into receivership losing all their money.
Plus to buy here is financially a disaster area with all of us losing a minimum of 50% of the purchase price.
So as i said I will continue to advise caution and not to listen to owners advice on purchase with abandon, many of these people are Brits retiring it's their life savings and the sales blurb is unfair on those looking for a new life. Take time and use that time to investigate do not trust anyone, agents solicitors sadly are not controlled like in the uk.
This is not an argument it is an exchange of views but my advice to everyone is rent before you buy.
Thank you for your advice, much appreciated.

Community fees from €130/month for apartments, then upwards dependent on size of property.

Many thanks Gem. Am I correct in saying that this includes broadband and certain TV channels? TIA

Yes, includes digital TV which provides basic channels and broadband at 20-30mbs. (which is pretty good)
The charge also covers community security, general maintenance of the resort including communal pools, etc, so all in all, good value for money.
