Two and a half hour flight....plus time at airport/ getting to gate so probably 4 hrs in total constantly wearing a mask. No thanks.

Sometimes saving a few Pounds is not the "be all and end all".

Everyone has their opinion obviously but I would rather wear a mask  for a few hours, set out in the morning get there before lunchtime. It’s a no brainier!  Especially as I’m stopping fir a month. The cost of the tests added to the flights is still far cheaper than peak travel a couple of years ago.

No wear and tear on your car, annual car hire insurance is only around £45

Just no hassle at all for me,

Do the home tests and send them off, £45 each.

Agreed, but my answer was directed at somebody who wanted to avoid having to pay around £1000.00 just for car hire and thus the ferry/own car would be a cheaper option.

There are ways round it by juggling the duration of the car hire, say two lots of a week and a half, the inconvenience is having to take the car back and pick another up, but as we are only 20mins from the Airport that isn’t much inconvenience at all.

Longer the duration of car hire for some reason becomes more expensive.

There are other ways round it by leaving it a few weeks before the hire date, I normally book the cars then if they come down in price to a point of worth bothering book a couple more then cancel the others Centauro and and some companies on doyouspain.com offer full refunds on cancellations, stay away from gold car is my advice

Hi

“No wear and tear on your car, annual car hire insurance is only around £45”

Sorry to ask. I have just read the dreadful news about pricier rental costs this year.
Your annual insurance, Is it a spanish insurance or a British one? I remember few tricky rental places from past visits not accepting British car insurances.

Thanks

Ian

The ferrys around a 1000 pound return in july and you lose 4 days, even though it is relaxing but long drive plus all the fuel costs.

It doesn't matter whether they accept them or not. I get an annual policy in the UK for around £40. The car hire company put a block of 1100 euros against my credit card. If there are problems such as an accident the Car hire company keep up to 1100 euro and I claim back from the insurance.

Hope this helps

OK. I'm not going into an extended discussion on this, but there is a choice of dates/fares and routes that will come in at around £800 return. I am not sure how having a relaxing cruise is "losing" your holidays. Each to their own.

Correct Stevie.

Yes some will try it on, but it’s a bit like Ryanair, know the system and you can get some great deals.

I always just refuse their insurance, and let them put a block on my credit card.

Centauro are one of the best companies out there, very rare you get the sales talk. They probably try it on with the people new to them

Another little tip!

Take two credit cards, I once had it where they said credit card not working (Firefly) I produced another then hey presto the original then seemed to work!!
