Free banking - Page 3

Does this account with Cajamar really come with free banking? If so It's the only account in Spain (apart from the Halifax before they shut up shop) that I've found that offers completely free banking. 

I'm with La Caixa at the moment and they seem to make random charges for what they call account maintenance plus an annual charge for having their debit card, so it would be nice to find a bank that offers free banking to non-residents, or is that wishful thinking?

We have not been charged any charges since April, so yes its free. I was charged in September 3€ for a duplicate debit card when I arrived last visit without my purse! But I knew of that charge and felt it was very reasonable(still took 2wks but thankfully my hubby still had €,s in his wallet from before. I could have withdrawn money via the cashier but its totally free onlineand atm use but there is a fee(think 7e) for that month for doing an in branch transaction and I declined this as we had last visits €,s.

Ps it took me 3wks of going into every bank, trawling all the websites to find a free non res acct. If I,ve been helpful with this info please tick the box!

Great, on the basis of your recommendation I shall visit my local branch of Cajamar in the Pto de Mazarron (Murcia) and say oi, give me free banking and see what they say.....

If you,re a resident you can open online, but it can't accept non resident Nie,s,so go into branch. Before you go read their website "weferrent account).it is in english. If your spanish is good ok ,but if not do as I said earlier translate in advance. Ist statement, "I want to open a weferrent account", then your questions. We had our passports, nie's and dir debit info plus last Sabadell statement. We were ushered to back of branch to a "personal gestoria" and he is the person we have seen each time not the cashier. We rarely need branch use so it suits us perfect

Weferrent is a very odd name for a bank account, it doesn't sound remotely Spanish, however, as a non-resident I shall be beating a path to my local Cajamar the next time I'm in Spain to find out if free banking is really a reality!
