I've got an apartment in P. de Maz which I use mainly for Winter warming trips....Many restaurants close for the period but there is still bundles of life and it's a pleasant place to be. I don't go in Summer (bit of a waste I suppose) because of the heat but I'm told it heaves with people and th...

Occasionally the place can look scruffy as the road cleaners seem to be a bit hit and miss but I like it and one can walk for miles along the beach in either direction. Also they seem to be spending a fair amount on upgrading the promenade and beaches areas.

And to add to my previous post if you need a bit of city life one can always jump on the bus to Cartagena for a few euros...lovely drive over the hills and a pleasant few hours in an historic town with a big port.

I don't know if it was mentioned, but every Sunday there's a lovely Sunday market in Puerto de Mazarrón. I found a good video of it here:

Just visited PdM, absolutely shocked at how run down and quiet it was, is this Covid recovery or just the time of year? Bulnuevo was a better experience, lovely beach, not many people, very clean and lovely lunch! We were v disappointed with PdM as that was originally on our list of places to buy, must be tough times for businesses

I think PDM has had a very tough pandemic experience. Summer 2020 was a complete disaster obviously but last year was not great either in terms of numbers (I was there July/August). Indeed, last year, compared to other Summer was very quiet indeed.

I'm not sure that the poor weather has helped this year: there has to be hope for a bumper summer in 2022 and a bounce back.

It's always worth remembering that Mazarron is the poorest town in Murcia region and one of the poorest in Spain.
