Hi. We have just obtained our NIE certs and have been told we need to wait 3 months to apply for residencia as we need to provide 3 months spanish bank account statements.  Is this the case in this area as I keep reading different things depending on the area. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hi there,

some basic advice is here, https://www.abacoadvisers.com/spain-explained/spanish-law/news/how-become-resident-in-spain

Ask at the town hall as they may have more or less requirements, I am pretty sure that the bank statements are a prerequisite though.

My belief is you have to a) prove address whether rented or owned so rent agreement or property deeds and b) able to financially support yourself (selves) with every application looked at individually or no hard and fast rules. U K bank statement showing proof of funds should suffice but obviously a Spanish account showing debits and credits is better as it shows local activity.

Just had all mine done this morning with Debbie Shaw. She’s been doing Residencias etc for people for 10 years. Excellent service. She said requirements vary from place to place even between Murcia and Cartagena. Google her and contact her. She will give you all the information and help you need. Good luck!

I believe you will also have to obtain your Padron from your local council. Same as the voters register back in the UK showing residency at your address

Just bear in mind that the padron has to be dated within the last three months at time of appointment or you’ll have to get another one!

Hi, we’ve googled Debbie Shaw but we’re not getting far fast! Please could you help us with contact details as we have a few questions regarding residencia, e.g. living off savings for a few years before our pensions can kick in. Many thanks

Will you be living in mazarron? If so I contacted Debbie Shaw through messenger and she was very efficient . She may have an email address which I can look up if you cannot contact her
