Does anyone know if you can use uk Amazon account and get delivery in Spain using a non resident NIE number. And would there be customs charges?

no such thing as non resident NIE?

Use the same account for Amazon.es or .de to avoid import tax. Anything sent from UK will be taxed unless it specifically states its not.

Well when I obtained mine 20yrs ago. There was difference in residence and non residence NIE Numbers so the terminology may have changed. But its still a tax reference number in Spain, I'm asked for it a lot. So not sure what that comment was about. But thanks for your advice anyway.

I'm currently waiting for an Amazon uk delivery. And waiting. This is the 7th day that Correos Express have had it out for delivery grrr!

This order was the first that I had to input my NIE and it did state that there would be no taxes to pay this end. I didn't know that there was resident and non-resident NIEs but when we got ours in 2005 it was for a permanent move so the question never arose. I can only suggest you try it if your NIE number is in the format: A-1234567-B

I don't know whether Amazon .es and .de now ask for an NIE, neither have the range that .uk has although I always search them first.

Sorry the NIE has never changed status your NIE is basically the same as your national insurance number in the UK.

Tax registrations are a different matter so Crissy was actually correct in her statement

Hi, you're definitely best setting up a separate Amazon.es account. We ended up having to do that (non residents but wanted the convenience of amazon) and it was the least stressful way.  If you are doing Prime, it's more expensive than the UK and the product range is less but sometimes it best to 'choose the path of least resistance " 😀

We had the same when we first moved over to Valle del Sol, near San Javier, and found that Correos won’t deliver unless you add a Spanish phone number, they then call you to make sure you’re in before they will deliver.  After a couple of days, your parcel will sit at the post office until you collect it.  We now have a Spanish phone number on our Amazon.es account and they call every time.  Our delivery went to Sucina post office, it might be worth a trip to San Javier post office.  Good lu
