Hi, we were in the same boat last year & missed the car tax bill so payment was overdue. We’re in Mar de Cristal & tried to pay at Los Alcazares town hall but they sent us to Cartagena OAGRC office to pay there. It was quick and easy, we paid a 5% fine for late payment bringing the bill...

... to about €66 for the year and we set up a direct debit ready for next year. As stated, all car tax due in January but bills don get sent out til March April or even May, the money then gets taken after about June. If when you get your bill you are not overdue, you can pay it at most cash points, just scan the barcode at the bottom of the bill.

Just as a matter of general interest, those who have the blue disability badge (Spanish) do not have to pay car tax, just register with the town hall

I know it probably depends where you live but we were told it would take 12 months and it took 12 months and 2 days . It was Cartegna. Last year we got the renewed badge and were surprised it's for 10 years. At the first assessment the doc was at pains to highlight all the additional benefits that came with it. To each my wife replied "oh he does that" 😁 we've never used any of those benefits and only did the car tax thing last year.  Good luck with all your endeavours
