Hi Angie, moving to Spain for any time longer than 180 days means that you are no longer a tourist. This brings you into legal or not legal status. Using a forum to get advice on what can be a very complicated subject, is probably not the best avenue to go down. The days of foreigners  being...

... able to move into Spain and live beneath the radar have probably come to an end. Brexit will probably highlight many problems. You will have to look at your tax position in Spain and UK. The inheritance rules are different, the health cover is different etc etc. Spain is a foreign country not an extension of England. You really will be better off using the Gov.co site to get the latest information and take tax advice from a qualified accountant familiar with the Spanish tax system

Just as an aside ...although many do order their medication on line and get it posted out, it is actually not legal to do so. The UK NHS is a resident based system. In other words if you leave England to live or stay in Spain and the UK is no longer your primary place of residence then you should unregister from your UK GP.

As I suggested previously, just coming to Spain on a short term rental ie 3 months then you remain a tourist and can just see wether you like it enough to make the move and you can bring a 3 month supply of meds with you.

Thanks for that Patricia. I think you're right. This is not the place to discuss.  I do know from next year when Brexit kicks in you can only stay in Spain 90 days out of 180 or whatever as a tourist.

That's why I keeping my place in UK so can go between. Am renting for 12 months initially to see if it's for me before any commitment.

Thanks.

Yes I think renting is the perfect solution for testing the waters so to speak for a year and during that year you can make a few return trips.  Is there any point in applying for residency and going through all the paperwork, etc only to decide that Spain isn't for you.  Wasted money and time.

As for medication, a lot can be purchased over the counter.  Especially the items you mention.

Hope you enjoy Spain when you arrive.

Thanks so much for that. And that's exactly what I was thinking of doing.

And thanks for advice on the meds. 👍

I am thinking of renting for around one to three months, maybe longer and with trips regularly back to UK, and seeing how it is living in Spain (Sucina or nearly).  I'll be on my own mostly, but maybe have children visit from time to time (aged between 11 and 43).  Anyone have a nice place for rent, two beds and preferably two bathrooms (one ensuite), though not essential?  And if I come first for a couple of weeks, where might be good to stay for that first trip?  Thanks in advance for any help. :)
