Unpleasantness on this site - 35 replies

Helena64 Posted by Helena64 in General Lo Pagan discussion on Sun Apr 12, 2020 8:50pm

Hi everyone, I joined this forum around 3 years ago when we were waiting for our holiday home to be ready for us. We were told that it was a platform for asking for help, recommendations or advice on pretty much any aspect to do with owning a property here and the area. The friend who suggested we join was right; it has been a very valuable source of information.

However, unfortunately it seems to have become a forum to bicker at one another and belittle people who don't share your views. I myself was on the receiving end of this maybe a year or so ago when I was asking if anyone knew the BIC code for my bank. After being made to feel like a pathetic woman, having already tried to find out the information myself, I finally did find it and was able to prove that I had been bullied by a few who didn't know the information themselves.

In these unprecedented and worrying times, shouldn't we all try and pull together and be kind and helpful to one another? If someone hears something and puts it on here to ask for verification, let's not shout them down as if they're an imbecile. There's so much false info out there that it's hard to know what's true and what isn't but it doesn't mean someone's stupid to ask.

I understand that lockdown is hard and we're in it too, even though we're not residents yet, but this forum shouldn't be used as a place to vent your frustration on other people, most of which you probably haven't even met!

So come on folks, let's try and go back to the nice forum we all signed up to, as a means of helping each other. I hope at least some of you will agree.

Happy Easter and stay safe everyone.

All the best, Helena

Selfish shoppers - 30 replies

AnnieF Posted by AnnieF in Coronavirus discussion in Camposol: Covid-19 news and updates on Sun Apr 12, 2020 4:56pm

To the two women who used their shopping trip to Consum - at about 4pm yesterday - as an excuse to stand in the shopping aisle and catch up on their ‘social essentials’ rather than their shopping essentials, removing their masks to interactive more closely and standing within spitting distance of each other....some of us want to live through this pandemic.  Some of us have vulnerable people for whom we are shopping and to whom we return after each outing hoping we haven’t run into some selfish moron flouting the social distancing rules.  To those two women I would respectfully tell them to get a grip and try to consider the consequences of their actions. You didn’t leave enough room for other shoppers to get past at a safe distance and seemed oblivious to the dangers that people like you pose to the community at large.  If you can’t behave with consideration towards others.....STAY AT HOME!!!

Is the cummunity made up of brits, french, german and spanish and whats the percentage?. are there any shops open?. In this difficult time whats the care services/ hospitals like? What short of busniess are open? Whats the cost of maintainance fees? If we live there 6 months a year do you have to register as living there?  Whats it really like to live there? Recommend location to retire for solo - 0 replies

Jan53 Posted by Jan53 in Off topic on Sun Apr 12, 2020 1:43pm

Hello I am a retired female who is very independent and seeking a long term rental so that I can put down roots

My ideal spot would be inland but with access to the beaches and not in the mountains , in a townhouse walking distance to a traditional Spanish village square

I don’t want remote but don’t want to be in a tourist area that will be rammed in the summer

All year round residential Spanish area would be perfect with walks and activities nearby

Hoping that this group will be able to point me in the right direction - preferably north west

Thanks every

My partner and I are looking at purchasing a property on Las Terrazas, as we've seen what appears to be nice apartments for sale, or course we will be coming out once it is safe to do so, to have a look around, we do know La Torre, MMGR, but not much about Las Terrazas, any information regarding this area, good or bad, would be appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Travelling to Bankia either El Peraton or Mazarron - is it okay? - 15 replies

Karenp Posted by Karenp in Banking and finances in Camposol on Fri Apr 10, 2020 7:08pm

Not that we are spending much cash at all as using cards as recommended but we do need some cash and have virtually run out - does anyone know if it is okay to travel to our bank (obviously one of us) - the closest is either El Peraton or Mazarron. Since lock down I haven't travelled off of Camposol.
