Hi there
We are hoping to buy a property in spain from the sale of our house, until we receive our pensions, would €700 a month be enough to live on?

Hi, It looks very tight and you need to be more specific. For instance the size of house (for electricity cost..v.expensive), have you factored in health insurance, car running costs....also bear in mind the pound may drop still further, so less Euros??

you need to prove an income of more than this to apply for residencia which you must do if you are going to live here ...this also includes having prvate health care so you need to factor in the cost of this too.....why not rent until you get your pensions then you will have more disposable income.
Living costs
Electric bill - 100
Water bill - 50
Food - 200
Petrol - 70
Health insurance - 100
IBI tax - 50
Car insurance & tax - 30
Mobile phone and internet 50
Home insurance 20
€670

Obviously I’m trying to giving the op a breakdown.
You clearly have missed what I’m trying to do

I agree with Crissywissy. You need about 15 to 20% in reserve for emergencies and the unexpected. Also we could not live decently on €200 food a month....more like €350 and that only for local food and the occasion menu del dia.

Hi Eileen
When you say will €700 be enough to live off, I take it this does not include bills etc. this figure is just to purely live off for food etc. If it's just for that then I see no reason why you can't survive on €700 a month, if you buy your fresh goods from the markets and have an occasional menu Del Dias I see no reason why you couldn't budget on that figure, but if you're having to include bills etc. Into that figure, Now that's another story 😬
Don't give up on your dream☺️

Hi Eileen, I think it would help all the nice folk who have replied by telling us what you mean by "live on"? Do you mean ALL monthly costs or just food? Kind regards, Bill
This was just a rough figure that came to mind, as this would rouhly be state pension figure.
