Well said Gaza

When was was the last time you were in the  U.K. and the electricity went off because someone turned a toaster on? The motorways in Spain are excellent however some of the other infrastructure is poor and utilities are very expensive . You pays your money to takes your choice.

Spain will never leave the EU Their is only one country stupid enough to do that, and unfortunately it was ours. Which leaving the pandemic aside we will soon regret.

I presume this discussion came about because of the difficulties brought about by Brexit. I think it's important to remember that Spain hasn't changed any rules or regulations as applied to 3rd countries. The UK voted to become a 3rd country in EU terms.

And even if Spain were to leave the EU I don't see it it opening up to immigrants from around the world, USA, Russia, Africa etc. European countries work better together, and should have stayed together.

Quite happy to.

Some of the people in the UK have voted to, isolate themselves from their biggest partner,  Europe,: to make life harder for themselves, by allowing this government  to undermine hard won rights, paid holidays, minimum wage, security of tenure etc etc.

To allow the government to sell of assets,  eg NHS:  mineral rights to companies on land in our 'protected' national parks: And of course US the people. We are going to lose so much.

But Johnson, Rees Mogg et al. They are making a killing. How much went to their cronies with those huge amounts of money given to companies who had no experience  in manufacturing,  to produce PPE. The famous track and trace, which has been a disaster, and a complete failure. The only thing the government got right was the vaccination programme.  And why did they get it right?? Because they handed it over to the poor tired overworked  NHS. Who did it brilliantly.

And now we get even more information about abuse of power with this government.  £70k spent on beauty products for Priti Patel???  £thousands spent on Johnsons bit on the side. All from the public purse.

The only downside to the EU is the vaccination programme? Oh I think theirs a little tale their to think about? You go on about the cronies fat cats etc?Brussels is full of it.Wasteful to say the least creating jobs for the boys such as HSE new extra driver cards and tests for truck drivers each year to do that they already know how to do when they took their test to be a truck driver. All extra beaurocratic crap.To put it bluntly?if you got your car licence passed both theory and driving which can cost a tidy sum only to be told if you don't attend a refresher course you loose your licence.EU extra jobs for What?Another one while your driving through France think about the lovely roads all lovely grass  cut to perfection in the winter as well. Why?I've never seen so many council jobs for the boys?or rather the poorly paid farmers using their very expensive tractors ?to do it.And that is a sarcastic remark as to the French farmers. Its funny how the Brits can do x2 cuts a year with smaller machinery with less people. We can all go on all day about this but my last thing to say about your red Ken statement above is this I don't think we are going backwards at all the country is free to do what it wants. That can only be a good thing.Ps the Krauts and French are now asking Putin of all people to get the sputnik vaccination now?unbelievable. And they stopped the A/S in Germany again for some?is that the only OTHER thing the EU has done wrong?.

Agree with a lot, not all, of your comment but one thing to remember when talking about bail outs. They are misnamed in my opinion. Bailouts are loans, not generous bail as the name implies and have to be paid back.

Great comment.

think some people are blinded by EU thinking they are Spain's savour . Time will tell.

Spain are so far in debt with the EU, will probably be the reason WHY they will not leave, because they cant afford it. Not other reasons stated.

Germany from yesterday are saying only elderly people to have the A.S vaccine. its brexit tactics & jealousy that the uk sorted out there orders way back last year. while the EU were doing nothing .

the whole worlds vaccine regulators have passed the A.S vaccine, but the EU are finding ways to create a problem due to the above reasons. well if they say its not safe, why the hell are they saying elderly people can take it.

its either safe or not.

Whispers, whispers, oh those whispers...... There will always be those who have made a terrible mistake and are desperate to persuade others to do the same! There is more evidence though, that shows that the majority of other EU countries' politicians feel pity towards the UK for having shot them...

...selves in the foot, rather than wishing to follow them into obscurity! The UK is now trying so hard to justify its decision and is scrabbling about trying to sort out the chaos that it has created and has now started the blame game, blaming everyone else but itself! Spain has done very well out of being a member of the EU. Without the various grants that Spain has received, it would still be a relatively backward country with terrible roads and other communication systems. Instead we have wonderful roads and a rail system that the UK can only dream about having one day. The EU has allowed Spain to do this and more. Some of us were living here before Spain joined the EU and can personally remember how far it has come since then. I think that Spain knows which side its bread is buttered! With the greatest respect to those "ex-pats" who do, I would guess that the majority of those who insist on calling themselves "ex-pats" and not "immigrants", don't speak enough Spanish to understand the country's politics and don't watch Spanish TV and so are unlikely to have an educated opinion on the subject.

Oh wow.  I suppose  "Britain making a mistake" is the reason the £ Sterling is at its highest level for over a year ?  Who do you think is going to make up the shortfall now that money from the UK will dry up ?   Spain will stay within the EU because of the vast sums of money it gets from the EU IMHO.
