I live opposite the old Laundry and it is definitely closed . But the building is in good shape and I wondered if it could be made into a community centre . A bar and small shop run by the residents on D sector .

Good idea, worth considering by the people living on Sector D.

ianc2 has suggested you do a dummy run????

The fines for operating illegally in Spain are quite horrendous, back in 2002 I was fined 3000euros for having someone behind my bar looking at some papers for me, They did not have a contract of employment.

Another suggestion as there are so many people saying go for it they will use it why not try a co/operative everyone putting in say 1000euro then employ a lawyer to apply for permissions for you??

Give it a try and see exactly how many people are willing to risk there money in a venture that has been tried and turned down.

The best response yet. I notice nobody has agreed with you Eduardo, that is how committed they are.

Maybe if an application was made to run as a charity or cooperative & profits donated it might stand a chance. Getting licence to sell alcohol could be a problem but if an attorney is used just maybe it could find a way.

Well I am very interested, would love to see a a shop or pub or resteraunt, but that will never ha on in my life time even though I was assured when I bought my place it would hapen. Whilst there is so much corruptness it will never proceed unless you had deep pockets , sadly money is a great motivator in Spain at all levels .

Would probably have to visit a solicitor. The Spanish love their red tape .
