Hi,

My partner and I were able to drive back from Los Alcazares through Spain and France to the Eurotunnel during the last lockdown (middle of April). We carried with us three letters in Spanish, Catalan and French explaining why we were making the journey. Plus for each of us the required documents ...

...in French to enter and travel through France.

No hotels open so except for a couple of hours sleep we drove non stop. However, we did not need documents to  enter the UK or to self isolate for 14 days at the time.

Joan,

Thank you for this, I will be checking nearer the time as to what I will need.

The new FCO advice though means our trip may not happen.

Jim

That is very helpful thanks.

In case of need, do you know where you obtained the required forms?

Jim

I returned to Uk last Saturday, and I am telling you all I felt safer in Spain than now in Uk, feckers still refusing to wear mask on public transport and in shops. and if you say anything you get a heap off abuse, returning end off August to Spain and cannot wait, mostly non white peoples braking the rules,

It is not really helpful to turn this into a race debate - I have witnessed where I live (sleepy Norfolk), many people not wearing masks.

What should be stated is that there are too many people not adhering to social distancing, mask wearing, sanitizing, etc. The rules in the UK are a bit too lax.

We are planning to move to Spain at the end of September so have a vested interest in keeping the borders open. We will be driving/ferrying as decided it was not safe enough to travel by plane, plus we are bringing our cat.

We just hope that Spain and the UK get on top of the latest spikes so we can get to some sort of new normality.

not sure of British status in Europe at this time put when Brexit is finished things could get tricky when British citizens are no longer Europeans
