HI All

I am looking to buy a apartment at Mar Menor golf and am due over in a few weeks to look at a few with an estate agent. Ive not visited the area before and was wondering if anyone had any advice on the following;

- Im looking at bank repossessions - is this normal and safe?

- Best beach to visit?

- Best restaraunts?

- Is the golf course at the resort good and kept in good condition?

- Does the resort get rowdy / crowded?

- Any gotchas you guys can help me circumnavigate?

thanks so much in advance for your answers

Cheers

Andrew

I would think that you get better information about it here:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/LaTorreGolfResortMAINGROUP

Repossession is tricky:

a)  Properties build by the “Polaris” (original builder who got bust) and not sold should be OK-ish.

b)  Properties previously owned by a “1st buyer” is dangerous: The buyer has to pay all the outstanding bills. i.e., water, electricity, community fee (This what we were told!) I heard that some families got a letter from the tax office to pay xyz for the last 8 years.

Best beaches: the whole Mar Menor has nice beaches – it is just you how fare you are willing to drive

Best restaurants: It depends on your taste: Chinese, indian, pizzarias, typical Spanish, fushion,

Value for money is always menue del dia: it can start  for 2 course 8,00€ or € 25,00

There are highly recommended restaurants on the complex but 1000 more around (driving 30KM)

Sorry I cannot answer the other points. We were looking there but because we are not into Golf we moved somewhere else.

Have fun exploring

We’ve lived here full time for five years and bought two bank repos on MMG with no problems …apart from the endless paperwork which is normal. I dont play golf but the course has been busy since restrictions lifted and seems to be well maintained. Generally the whole resort is quiet and beautifully kept…obviously in the summer months there are more holidaymakers but no rowdiness! Its 7/8 mins drive into Los Alcazares to the beach but there is lots of choice within 20/30 minutes drive.

Plenty of good restaurants on the Boulevard just outside the gate but if you want Spanish food then there is a lot of choice in Torre Pacheco 5 minute drive away…and a great market.

You do need a car though!! Any other questions pm me! Dont rely on answers from people who dont live here!!

Our community  pool is still closed because we are told we need outside cleaners for disinfection twice a day and we can't afford to pay that, does anyone know if these restrictions have been changed recently  seems everyone has a pool open now!

Thanks for the all the info… I’m worried that if I come to the apartment out of season that I might be the only one on-site at that time, could be a bit too quiet? Is there regular people traffic all year round? I plan to visit 5 times a year for a week at a time

thanks

about 50% of the resort is owned by full time residents so always plenty of people around

Hi Andrew.

The Golf courses have been voted the best in Europe . It is quiet and no rowdy people about at all!  Some of the best beaches in Spain are 10 mins away in the national park of Calblanque, in the winter (70f) we have had the park and beaches to ourselves! This area is beautiful, with mountains or flat areas for walking with minimal tourists. Here is a link to Calblanque-

https://youtu.be/AUn1bqspmGY  and A link to a video I put together   https://youtu.be/6dYr7pe-iPw

We are selling our small 1 bed bungolow  house right on the edge of a small local quiet village with open countryside and mountain walks on the doorstep and all amenities 1-10 mins walk ,  10 min drive from the golf courses there if interested, we have not advertised it yet but its valued at 49,000 euros. As we bought a bigger place in Almeria.

Regards, Mike.

Don't think the courses are officially the best in Europe. 2 Murcia courses plus the La Manga courses get in the Spain top 50, but no Murcia courses are in the top 50 in Europe. Maybe what you intended to imply is that our Murcia region is one of the best golfing destinations in Europe mainly due to the choice available in a relatively small area. Having said that, the courses in our area are very good.
