Hello,

My partner and myself are looking into potentially purchasing a 3 bed villa at El Valle, with the view of using the villa for ourselves for part of the year and renting it out as a holiday let when we are not there. I am trying to get clarity around costs associated with owning the property, particularly taxation. We would be UK tax residents and so considered Non-resident for the purposes of Spanish taxation.

My understanding is that we would liable for 24% tax on any rental income without the option to offset any expenses, with returns submitted quarterly. Is this the only tax we would have to pay or is there any other taxes applicable?

What about something equivalent to UK council tax? Does such thing applies?

I am aware of factoring/maintenance fees payable to resort, my understanding is that this comes at 170 euro for 3 bed villa at El Valle - is this correct?

On another topic does people have any feedback on how popular does villas are for rental? Is there a good demand?

Hi, my wife and I are moving to Spain and are considering living on one of the resorts. We have visited and stayed on Mar Menor, La Torre, Las Ramblas and La Finca. I’m a golfer and keen road cyclist my wife is into keep fit classes and general meet up with ladies stuff, days out shopping etc.

Can anyone please give us some info as to the good and bad of moving to one of these resorts. We love the style of the villas on el valle but is there enough going on for a permanent move?
