You can get a Ring system for around €300, and a sort of support for €10 a month, or a Securitas system for €1420 with supposed link to police and fire for €49 a month, but the latter are inveterate liars and pressure sellers.

Or you could just buy in a decent area and not worry too much.

Our last fee's as mentioned above jumped up by a €100 for this year. And if they had went a head with the garden project due to water shortage then on top of Community fee's everyone would have had to pay approx €134 each for the design of the gardens that were chosen on top of Community chargers. That was knocked on the head for now as they were given more water. But you'v got no control of this.My advise to long term rentals less hassle in the long run especially if only 6mths in year. Then if you are like us got bit sick going to same place but felt we paying for apartment so need to use it.But that's my opinion.

I am sorry this has happened to you and if I’m honest that’s why I pulled out as you have no control of what they do.

I know it’s a tough decision but it’s also nice to have your own place with your things as renting apartments aren’t always what they seem.

How long have you owned at HDA ?  That’s a huge leap from €100 euros a month 🥴

We  have owned for just gone 6 years I loved my apartment the position it was in, the Security to gave you peace of mind,it has a lovely community feel but we have been thinking about it for a few years every time we went doing same things flights going up and hiring cars.We bought our own car then that had a lot problems. But I'm sure if you decide to buy you will enjoy as we did when we first purchased but think we'v made right decision.

Thank you Jan.   No I decided against HDA not only for the community charges but it’s too isolated for me.
I’m looking elsewhere with much lower community charges.

I’ve owned elsewhere in Spain and like you get fed up -sell then miss the lifestyle and buy again 🤣. This is my 3rd throw of the dice.

We are hoping to buy a property. We wondered about community fees. We would not be able to go much past 120 euros a month, so is this even possible or are the fees much higher? Many thanks.

I live on HR. Our fees are around 600 per quarter. I think it's reasonable when you factor in what you get. Security, Gardens, Internet, freeview tv, clean streets, well lit at night, building insurance and maintenance etc. The fees are all different depending on the apartment location and size. The rubbish tax I think is about 180 a year. When we lived in Lancashire my council tax was 3500 a year.

Gas and electricity in Spain is much cheaper of course your bills depend on what you use. We have the air conditioning on in our bedroom every night in the summer and I didn't get an electric bill over 100 a month.

Golf is optional,  I can't stand it but you get a good view and we enjoy watching all the poor shots from our terrace.

We are very happy here, sitting outside Rosarios in the village yesterday afternoon in the warm sun sure beats grey sky and rain in Leyland!

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

If you were looking at a property on Hacienda Riquelme then they definitely didn't go up three times in that short period of time. Its more likely that the agent or owner were not telling the full story. We got our lawyer to confirm the fees prior to paying the deposit.

Apologies Chrissie I didn’t explain properly I was given 3 different quotes for fees - €115 at initial enquiry, €125 when agent gave me breakdown then closer to completion Solicitor confirmed they’d be €145.  So 3 lots of different figures.
