"Absolutely. Never was a Brexit fan." Nor me.

I have yet to see any statement that identifies one single benefit to the UK from Brexit - not one!

Saving millions in fee contributions to the EU, when payout grants to the UK were less than the contributions.

So this is the promised £3,500,000 that is going in to the NHS?

If you require a larger payouts it would be better to have put money in the bank? That's not the Idea of a community

I couldn't agree more than what philtox  wrote.

However, unfortunately rules are rules, we all know if your coming here as an owner your limited to your 90 day rule, Scandinavians aren't, we have many GB friends that come and go periodically and it's always sad to see them go back, and I seriously feel for them....

...

We moved permanently 1 and a half years ago and feel so guilty when our friends say we've got to go back, because they used to come out Willy nilly.

But that is thier choice, we've made ours, and I have to say to people out there, if you like it here, MOVE HERE, but be prepared to do lots of running around for the first year or more before settling down.

Oh and mags, Scandinavians are lovely we know so many, plus Dutch Belgian French, thier all contributing to the Spanish economy, I only wish that Brits could too, but they are not allowed to.

Hey ho that's what coming out of the EU means.

To get residencia, it would be good that the Spanish authorities adhered to the agreement which was " if you apply for residencia before 31/12/2020, you are allowed to stay". My husband applied on 9th November 2020 and provided documents which were asked. Since then, we received a letter dated 15th May 2021 at the end of June, asking for more documents which we sent (most were the same documents such as Health insurance and passport). We checked again in August and the status was still "unfavourable" but we still have not received any official letter. Provided that an appeal can be made within 1 month of the date of the official letter, we are at a loss! Spanish burocracy is a joke!

In a nutshell, it looks like Murcia immigration is the pain in the backside. In the UK and France, foreigners get their reply within 1 month. We now purchased a house in Andalucia and our lawyer advised us to start the process from scratch there because they are aware that Murcia is the problem. My husband has not been able to leave Spain because it needs to be sorted out. A nightmare!

I ask did you apply for your residence yourselves or did you use a "qualified person" if using a "qualified person" did they know what they were doing?

Having lived and worked in Andalucía within the property market with many immigrants I never found the laws or regulations any different from Murcia. The same applied in the Alicante region.

Have you checked what the "Lawyer" is telling you the truth, and have they guaranteed they will obtain residence for you?

Remember it is not the regional authorities that grant residence but the laws of the government.

What you are basically saying is if I want o go to England as an Immigrant and applied for status in London and it is taking time maybe I should now try Liverpool as it may be easer?

Or why not just ask Priti Patel or Boris for some help.

Pease remember there have been many British people living here under the radar and quite wisely the government needs to make the checks.

I hope this Lawyer in Andalucía can guarantee you they will get your residencies in a very short time, however I am sure that your new application will be flagged up as already applied, so I would not part with any money until you have your TIEs

Not Spanish or EU bureaucracy as this is the law for any from third country and things take time

I can’t see the point of buying a property in Spain until the 180 day rule is relaxed or scrapped.

Does anyone agree or disagree

It's pretty irrelevant whether people agree or disagree - that's how things are for all third countries! There will always be people of all nationalities who don't need or want to spend more than 90 days at a time in Spain, those who plan to let their families share the use of the property with them, and plenty of those who are still able to relocate to Spain permanently.

Why should the rule be relaxed ? "Because we are British" the rule applies to all third countries, always has done, and the Uk is now one.

Many people will continue to buy properties as they did before and can be enjoyed as holiday homes with family and friends, you  were stating on the 7th October, that you intending to buy have you changed your mind?

Unfortunately many people that are complaining, are those that have lived under the radar for many years.

I agree with both sides of this chat.

And feel for ZaZa1963, but if you did try to do it yourself to save money you were always on a hiding to nothing.

Yes we paid out for expertise that I must say was brilliant, oh and English, spoke fluent spanish knew everyone at residenci8abd tragic offices, but well worth the cost, which was nothing compared to worrying about staying.

ZAZA keep going mate, if you want to be here it will happen.

I’m still hoping to buy with a view to living in Spain not to have a second / holiday home so the 180 day ruling is something I have to think about

But thank you for your commen
