We had a one bed flat in Lo Pagan for 4 yrs then we bought a larger flat in Santiago de la Ribera which is quieter, about 1-2 miles further along the coast. Both towns have a Spanish feel to them. We usually go to Lo Pagan in the evenings as it's quite lively. There's a lovely walk/bike ride from...

... Lo Pagan to Santiago along the promenade, so it's very easy to go from one town to the other. Both towns get busy in summer, especially July and August but unlike other towns in this region, there is life all year round. In Lo Pagan there's a great restaurant and bar called Rubio 360° overlooking the sea. There is some pollution of the Mar Menor which is a huge lagoon and fine for a daily swim, the water is shallow and still, so it's safe for children, plus there are also free mud baths which are good for joint pain. However, If we want a day out with big beaches, real waves and a holiday atmosphere, we go to beaches on the Mediterranean side such as Playa de la Horadada, La Torre, Mil Palmeras, which are all about 20-30 mins drive. In Summer these beaches are quite international, lots of Brits, Scandinavians, French, German etc, nice bars and restaurants, some on the beach and a bit more expensive than Lo Pagan. The whole Mar Menor area is great, property prices are good compared to other areas in Spain and I can highly recommend Raol of 'Topcasas' just behind the Neptuna Hotel in Lo Pagan if you are looking at property to rent or buy. Good luck!

Thank you for all the information.  Very interesting what people have to say about different areas.  It is a case of we need to visit Spain again and have a look at all these areas to find which is best for us.  We will be visiting again shortly once Chris's passport has been renewed. Linda & Chris

Hi Chris & Linda

You are making the right decision, never a better time. We nust spent our first winter in the area and it was so wonderful. Only mistake we nade was leaving to come back to the rain and wind on 18th Jan.

Theres a small agent in Santiago de ka Ruberia caled paradise properties....they found a perfect front line for us which is magical. Not many front line available now but plenty available which are close at hand. I would suggest Santisgo de la riberia or Lo Pagan which are both real holiday areas

Thank you Seamus and we will certainly be looking at those two areas when we come back out again. Chris & Linda
