It should do as they are the same thing. NIF is for Spanish citizens.

When I last checked ( late 2018 ), my Cajamar Caja Rural needed a holding of 1000€ to give free banking.

That is their "360" account which gives interest at better rates than basic. We got signed up for the "weferrent" account and a "360" account as I was opening it with 1000€ ready to pay our bills. Later after reading all paperwork we realised we didnt need an account to give us interest so we cancelled the 360 account ,moved the 1000 into weferrent when we collected our debit cards. There were no problems, and tbh we would never have less than that in our account ever. As we only go twice now for 3months each, we know there,s sufficient to pay our maintenance bills for a year at least without worrying about topping up at bad rate times. We pay 50€mnth just for an alarm as well as usual water, electric suma tax,car tax etc. As for nie/nif, I can only say I couldnt get access with our nie,s so phoned their dedicated english speaking phone no and was then told we had to go into branch. Try for yourself, see if you can open online but I doubt it.

Looks like you need a Spanish NIE number and a mobile phone number.
UK mobile phone number can be used
We already had a spanish mobile as my alarm has a spanish sim in it to call our phone if necessary.(please not!) So maybe you do need a spanish mobile. We use a "hits"mobile, cost 2€ yr to always keep number(no needless topping up) and if my balance goes below 5€ it automatically tops up from our bank. They have english customer agents and the website is available in english. My 2 sims(1 in alarm cost me around 10€yr) hardly use one in phone as Uk tesco still allows me to use whilst there (maybe change after Brexit). You can order a hits sim to be delivered to your spanish home online, or find a hits mobile sim supplier local to you. But you wont need to top up with local suppliers as you can do it online with card, though calling their customer services straight after buying it you can arrange the "keep number for 2€ and their auto top up). Its a small price to pay per year(dont have to use it!) if it means you comply with need for spanish mobile. I get msgs from Cajamar for my hubby on my hits number as well as my msgs.lol. He doesnt have a spanish mobile. My phone is a dual sim one. I notice no one else is giving any info re Cajamar to reinforce your confidence but hope my info has been helpful. We all have to learn somehow. I research, research, and research some more

Yes, I have been on their website and see what you mean about the Weferrent account, but I think I would feel more comfortable in calling into the branch when I'm next in Spain and see if I can switch from my existing bank to Cajamar. Food for thought anyway, thanks for the info.

I've had a look at their website and the account is free, but can only be used inline. That's not a problem to me, but has anyone transferred their D Debits from another Bank to this one, and how easy was it? Did you have to go into the branch to do it?
It says there are fees for transactions done within branch, so paying a cheque in for instance would incur a fee.
Keep us informed of any details and experiences, Sabadell fees are extortionate.

I,m assuming you,re talking about Cajamar bank? You must have missed my lengthy replies earlier which both explained I took all the info re direct debits in with me on opening account. As for cheques you can deposit them and cash(notes) at their atms.
